The BBC have today released the first promotional pictures of Bertie Carvel (Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Coalition) as Simon Foster in up and coming new drama Doctor Foster. Carvel portrays the titular Doctor Gemma Foster’s husband played by Suranne Jones (Scott and Bailey, Coronation Street). The first episode airs on BBC One on Wednesday the 9th of September from 9:00pm to 10:00pm. The episode synopsis and second promotional picture can be found below:

In episode one, we meet Gemma Foster (Suranne Jones), a woman seemingly in control: a trusted GP, the heart of her town, a woman people can trust. But Doctor Gemma Foster’s life is about to explode.
Suspecting her husband of having an affair, Gemma throws herself into an investigation that will propel her, her family, and even some of her patients into chaos.
Bit by bit, Doctor Foster uncovers secrets that shock her to the core. Now she has to choose how to react. One thing is certain – she is going to behave in ways she could never have imagined.
