The BBC have today published their annual report of the year. The report looks at how the BBC has been received, how many views the channels have received as well as Audience Approval Ratings. Doctor Who has this year been singled out as one of the BBC’s highlights along with Wimbledon and the News. The report states:

The Doctor Who 50th Special was shown on TV in 98 countries; was broadcast in 15 languages; and sold 649,138 cinema tickets in 25 countries. In the UK it was watched by an average audience of 12.8 million, plus an additional 3.2 million iPlayer requests.

This pretty much shows that Doctor Who is in fairly good shape for a 50 year old show.
